چکیده

The tuned mass damper (TMD) is widely used for vibration mitigation, especially in high-rise buildings where significant soil-structure interaction (SSI) effects are usually involved. This creates a need to consider SSI TMD design. In this work, novel design framework systems with proposed. For response evaluations, structure-TMD modeled as two-degrees-of-freedom (2DOF) system, standing on rigid foundation and subject out-of-plane SH seismic wave inputs homogeneous half-space. Closed-form analytical solutions of its displacement acceleration responses derived, the H2-norm system transfer function introduced quantify performances TMDs. problem then formulated solved by optimizing performances. Considering that aspects other than e.g., strokes, device costs, etc., may be critical damping ratios, developed firstly making an informed selection subsequently tuning frequency ratios through calibrated formulae. addition, strokes versus investigated facilitate determination ratios. A case study based real-existing building carried out illustrate application proposed framework. has proven highly efficient effective suitable use practical engineering.

OPTIMIZATION CRITERIA FOR DESIGN OF TUNED MASS DAMPERS INCLUDING SOIL–STRUCTURE INTERACTION EFFECT

Many researches have focused on the optimal design of tuned mass damper (TMD) system without the effect of soil–structure interaction (SSI), so that ignoring the effect of SSI may lead to an undesirable and unrealistic design of TMD. Furthermore, many optimization criteria have been proposed for the optinal design of the TMD system. Hence, the main aim of this study is to compare different opti...

A RELIABILITY APPROACH TO COMPARE OPTIMAL SEISMIC DESIGNS OF MULTIPLE-TUNED-MASS-DAMPER

Passive systems are preferred tools for seismic control of buildings challenged by probabilistic nature of the input excitation. However, other types of uncertainty still exist in parameters of the control device even when optimally tuned. The present work concerns optimal design of multiple-tuned-mass-damper embedded on a shear building by a number of meta-heuristics. They include well-known g...

PERFORMANCE BASED OPTIMAL SEISMIC DESIGN OF RC SHEAR WALLS INCORPORATING SOIL–STRUCTURE INTERACTION USING CSS ALGORITHM

In this article optimal design of shear walls is performed under seismic loading. For practical aims, a database of special shear walls is created. Special shear walls are used for seismic design optimization employing the charged system search algorithm as an optimizer. Constraints consist of design and performance limitations. Nonlinear behavior of the shear wall is taken into account and per...

Studies on Soil Structure Interaction of Multi Storeyed Buildings with Rigid and Flexible Foundation

Abstract— Though the structures are supported on soil, most of the designers do not consider the soil structure interaction and its subsequent effect on structure during an earthquake. Different soil properties can affect seismic waves as they pass through a soil layer. When a structure is subjected to an earthquake excitation, it interacts the foundation and soil, and thus changes the motion o...
